Rigoni's is an Adelaide institution that has resonated as part of the fabric of the city for several decades. We remember coming here in the heady days of BankSA when we strolled down from our banking HQ after a long day of corporate life to get therapy at Rigoni's. It was the favourite haunt of my boss and he would take me here as a reward for corporate toil. And because he was and is a nice guy. The magic of Rigoni's back then is still to be imbibed today. This is smart Italian food with a premium on ambience and service. The changes to Leigh St have only enhanced the experience. You can truly relax here in an inner Adelaide CBD haven and enjoy a slice of Italy in Adelaide. We visited recently with a group and the service is still of the high standards that it was years ago.
We like the authenticity of an Italian restaurant with Italian language in its menu. Although even the average punter should be able to translate "pasta e risotti". And this is where you can indulge with a brilliant Spaghetti tutto mare blue swimmer crab, black mussels, black tiger prawns, fish, calamari, garlic, onions, chilli, parsley & Napoli (with picked spanner crab meat extra $5.00). How can you go past these fruits of the sea? Or you may want to choose from the superb daily pasta dishes that include Spaghetti Carbonara, Spaghetti Bolognese, Spaghetti Ammatriciana and Penne con Salsicce for example. For business types you may want to while away a few hours at a long business lunch over the Principale options, including Filetto di manzo alla griglia Angus beef fillet wrapped in basil with confit kipflers, roasted squash, watercress & pickled mustard seeds. Or try the Pesce alla griglia con pancetta grilled snapper fillet wrapped in pancetta with fennel puree, beetroot infused farro, cured fennel, grilled asparagus & rocket pesto.
