Chef Simon Bryant and Hilton Adelaide Executive Chef Lloyd Cremer will prepare lunch alongside celebrity cooks Callum Hann and Bree May. More than 300 guests will be seated at long tables running between the market stalls.
Simon said of his involvement: “The Big Issue’s motto ‘helping people to help themselves’ is a winner for self-esteem, for community building and facilitates real tangible long-term positive change to lives. So does good food and the two come together every year for a long table in the iconic Central Market. It really couldn’t be a better back drop for Adelaide’s ‘must-not-miss-out’ annual event and to be able to contribute to the menu and cooking on the day is a privilege.”
Bree echoed this sentiment: “Being involved in The Big Lunch is an absolute honour for me. I’m a long-time reader of The Big Issue magazine and an avid supporter of their mission to bring hope to so many lives, so it is such a wonderful opportunity to get involved and give something back while doing what I love, cooking!”
Gather together a group of your friends, family or colleagues to enjoy a big lunch with a big cause. All proceeds from ticket sales go to The Big Issue’s SA office, which helps recruit and support magazine vendors. A raffle will also be held on the day to help create job opportunities for homeless and disadvantaged women through The Big Issue’s Women’s Subscription Enterprise.
Tickets to The Big Lunch cost $120 per person or $1100 for a table of 10. Tickets are on sale until Wednesday, 22 July. Details: www.thebigissue.org.au
