The World Loves Adelaide was invited to Jamie's Italian for a celebration of South Australian Produce. And what a night it was! Diners were treated to a three course dinner, which was more like a 10 course dinner with multiple dishes per course. The top notch dishes were matched with bespoke South Australian Wines.
The evening was hosted by two of Jamie's long-standing friends – sommelier, Matt Skinner and chef, Tobie Puttock. Both are long credentialed in their fields and are enthusiasts of all things South Australian.
Jamie and Tobie first met in 1999 at the River Café in London, before Tobie and Matt helped Jamie to open his first restaurant, Fifteen, in 2002.
Guests enjoyed an amazing three-course sharing feast featuring the best in-season produce and matching SA wines from Chaffey Bros, Zonte's Footstep & Mr Riggs.
Matt Skinner has spent considerable time in South Australia and was speaking rave reports about the local scene.
Classic Meat Plank with mixed salumi with 'nduja crostini, bocconcini, pecorino & chilli jam with pickles olives & slaw. What a joyous arrangement of fresh local produce!
Burrata with a selection of slow roasted SA heritage tomatoes, basil oil & carta di musica. Burrata and fresh local tomatoes was a match made in heaven.
Beef carpaccio with asparagus & and local pecorino was another rustic hit.
Home made Orechiette with wild garlic pesto was a rustic dish that hit the high notes. With the wait staff on hand to provide extra grated cheese!
Roasted Mulloway with vigonle - a classic Roman vegetable stew, was a dish that many considered their favourite of the night. Local produce at its best.
Barossa Valley Black Angus aged rump, salt baked baby beets, wild garlic & spinach was a personal favourite. Every bite was to savour, complemented wonderfully by the baby beets and wild garlic and spinach.
Dessert was stunning featuring Polenta cake with Kangaroo Island honey.
A Selection of local South Australian cheese was the perfect note on which to finish this epic meal.
