The Stitches & Craft Show invites Adelaide to get crafty and share the handmade experience at the Adelaide Event & Exhibition Centre (5-7 May 2016).


Heralded as THE place to purchase specialty stitching, paper and craft products and to see what’s new in craft, the Stitches & Craft Show is the destination for anyone who wants to Share the Handmade Experience.

Leading the handcraft movement across Australia and NZ, this much-anticipated show offers a stunning range of exhibitions, displays, hands-on activities, guest artists, fashion parades, make and take classes, workshops, DIY ideas and more.

Stitches and Craft Adelaide welcomes to the program, Inner Journeys; the work of six South Australian textiles artists from the Salt group (Judy Bushby, Suzanne Gummow, Julie Haddrick, Francie Mewett, Sara Bell Smith and newcomer Wendy Thiele) The exhibition invites you to be inspired, explore, extend, respond to, critique and reflect on each of the appointed themes. It is a gallery of personal discovery, where each artist learnt things about themselves, embraced their stories, experiences, shared knowledge, emotions and skills to refine, critique and celebrate their differences.


The Stitches & Craft Show is sure to have Adelaide’s crafty sorts darting for their needles!  Sew So Easy enables you to discover how easy it is to sew your very own range of clothing and home décor items. Join n on the Fashion Parades; learn how to create garments Fit to Flatter; and listen to the latest trends in Décor to sew at home!

You don’t have to be a hippy chick to be in awe of the stunning 10-metre long knitted and crocheted ‘flower garden’, created to celebrate 50 Years of Flower Power. This hand-stitched piece is made up of hundreds of bright floral motifs in all sorts of shapes, sizes and colours and is a perfect representation of the term ‘flower power’ which, incredibly, was coined 50 years ago. It is a truly global creation with more than 207 contributors from over 24 countries providing numerous pieces to be included.

This year’s event debuts a new textile art exhibition that explores the ‘fourth dimension’ in cloth. Aptly named ‘A Matter of Time, the exhibition curated by Brenda Gael Smith, features 32 new works by some of the world’s foremost quilters.

Love Vintage show is back with a new look and commands its own definitive sense of chicThe main stage features vintage consultant Mistress Chrissy Keepence who will present styling demonstrations and makeovers. Vintage exhibitors will be on hand to offer exquisite fashion, textiles and accessories so you to enjoy a little retro renaissance. 

We are thrilled to announce a program of hands-on ‘Make and Take’ classes, all run by expert tutors with specialist experience. Spaces are limited so visit our website to book for these exciting new activities in sewing, paper crafting, quilting, embroidery and more.
